By providing a captivating yet intangible experience where the audience can make use of energy in this unprecedentedly direct manner, this installation communicates a novel paradigm in the sustainable use of energy.
Local Warming was funded primarily by the SENSEable City Laboratory at MIT Principal Investigator Dr. Carlo Ratti suggested I find a way to “put the energy where the people are”. This led to the creation of Local Warming as an art installation outside of Lobby 7 at MIT.
My partners on this project were MIT researchers Matthias Danzmayr and Cagri Zaman. With substantial design input from R&D Lead Yaniv Turgeman.
